Why Choose 'Huldah'?

Not a question, but an observation, it's interesting that you name yourself after the prophetess Huldah, who was consulted by a Judean king about the words in the book of law that was found in the Jewish temple, and told the decimation of Jerusalem and Judah would not occur during his lifetime. Are you a modern day prophetess? Were you unaware of the association? Or was there another reason you chose that name?

Regards,

ANC

**********

Dear ANC,

Thanks for inquiring. I am quite familiar with Huldah’s story in scripture. However, I do not consider myself a “modern day prophetess” as people would think of it today. I am unable to say that I have ever stood on a mountain top and pointed out over America with God’s words flaming from my lips.

That being said, it is written in the New Testament that God bestows upon His people gifts to be used for the cause of His kingdom. I am not unique, those gifts are given to every Christian, but it is up to the individual to find out, with God’s help, what their gifts are and how He wants to use them. See 1 Corinthians 12 and Romans 12.

I have a passion for God’s Truth and evangelism. Sharing that Truth with others is what the Lord put on my heart to do. I see people all around me that are being lied to about what is right and what is wrong, and so many are confused. Children are taught that sex is okay at any age, abortion is alright if it is convenient for the mother, criminals are only born that way, we can live our lives however we see fit without any consequences, I could go on and on. All these lies burn in my bosom at night as a God-fearing woman. I see my country falling into a trap.

I chose Huldah because I was looking for a strong female voice (not to mention her name is unique). What I liked about her was that when she delivered her prophecy, she boldly spoke the Truth. The Truth was stinging, but someone had to speak it. Then she came back and delivered a message of hope to the king who had humbled himself before God.

I don’t know about you, but I think we could use a lot of voices like Huldah’s just about now.

Hope that helps.

I think I am saved, but how do I really know for sure?

Huldah's answer:

Several years ago, I was told that to be saved I needed to pray for God to forgive me and ask Jesus into my heart. I did that, but I didn't think too much about it right away. However, GOD thought MUCH of it and I wasn't getting off that easy. When I finally picked up my Bible and started to read it alone in my room, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. In the pages, it was if I was holding up a mirror, and God was showing me that I had sinned against Him in ways that I hadn't considered. It brought me down low. I realized just how wretched I really was. This time, I got on my knees and asked Him with deep regret to forgive me. And forgive me He did! I felt a burden lifted off of me that was indescribable. I could actually feel His forgiveness.

At the same time I had been suffering with a painful illness that I was told I would have to live with for the rest of my life. One morning, I woke up, got down on my knees, and told God that there was no way I was going to be able to serve my family when I could hardly get out of bed because of the pain. Just then I heard a voice say "Throw your pills away." I did, and I have never taken another since. Over the course of a few months my pain was completely gone.

In addition, all my life since childhood, I had bad dreams several nights a week, always something chasing me that I could never see. Finally one night the dream was so frightening, I woke up in a sweat. I cried out to God and told Him I couldn't take these dreams any more...then they vanished.
God was showing me at every turn that I was truly His and that He loved me.

Today, I no longer struggle with doubt about salvation and here is why...

First, God says He disciplines those that He loves. Heb 12:6 "FOR THOSE WHOM THE LORD LOVES HE DISCIPLINES AND HE SCOURGES EVERY SON WHOM HE RECEIVES."

When I do sin, the Holy Spirit convicts me. It's like a burning in my bosom, but I know it is for my own good.

Second, God teaches me so many things in the Bible that I could not ever have figured out on my own. I'm not talking about good preaching/teaching on Sunday, though it has its benefits. I mean He teaches me the Bible when I read it with Him alone. Every time I read a Book in the Bible a second, third, or more times, He is faithful to show me something new EVERY time. Getting alone with Him is when He speaks the loudest to me.

Third, He has taken away a lot of the sinful desires I used to have and replaced them with desires that align with His. I no longer take pleasure in the sins I used to commit for fun. I get more enjoyment now running my own Bible study and a Christian Help website, not to mention I am a much better wife and mother than before I was saved.

Finally, God uses me to lead others to Christ, and I love every minute of it. People are hungry to know God, yet so many are so very far from any kind of joy in their lives.

Walking with the Lord is not always easy, and sometimes it is quite hard, however, what baby doesn't struggle to stand, or fall and get hurt sometimes?

One thing I am sure of is this:
Rom 8:38-39 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
If you really want assurance of your salvation, let nothing come between you and your alone time with the Lord. He will, over time, show you Himself, that you are His...forever.

Huldah, Maidservant of the Lord

Huldah was a little known prophetess that was used by God in 2 Kings 22, and her story starts in verse 8 - 22. (See Below) At God's prompting, she was bold enough to speak warning, yet at the same time she also gave hope.

That is exactly the burden God placed on my heart for the people in my country.

Before I was saved, I was easily confused about so many issues that affect our society today. I seemed to have instincts discerning right from wrong, but not only did I have no basis for argument concerning which was which, it was easy to violate my own conscience without good, solid direction. It was far too tempting to follow the wrong path, if it brought me pleasure, without someone to tell me why it was wrong.

When I began to read God’s Word, He opened up a whole new world to me, His world; a world of Truth that is perfect and unchanging. He spent several years removing the veil from eyes, layer by layer, showing me through His own eyes how the world looks and what is Truth concerning it.

It can be a lonely place when we feel something is right or wrong, but society, family, or friends seem to dictate to us how we are to think or feel. The truth is, there is only one Truth, and it is God’s written Word.

Ask Huldah is a ministry with the confused, lost, or misdirected in mind. Though some may need simple advice, others may need someone to point them to the narrow gate.
Mat 7:13-14 "Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it. "
It is the goal of this ministry to reach people with God’s Truth in all areas of life that affect us as individuals and as a society.

It is not God’s will for us to remain in confusion and follow the world, it is His desire that we turn to Him for Truth in all matters.
1John 2:15 Do not love the world nor the things in the world If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever.
James 1:5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
As for my signature...

I began calling myself "Your Maidservant" in prayer some years back when I had a series of miscarriages. I realized through my trials just how small I was before the almighty God. I was not angry with Him for what was happening. I was awed by Him. Now, when I sign a letter, I find it continues to remind me of my humble position before Him. When answering a letter, I have a duty to seek His answers to help His people, not my own.

Thank you for taking the time to read about "Maidservant Huldah."

Huldah's story:
2Ki 22:8-20 Then Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the scribe, "I have found the book of the law in the house of the LORD." And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan who read it. Shaphan the scribe came to the king and brought back word to the king and said, "Your servants have emptied out the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hand of the workmen who have the oversight of the house of the LORD."
Moreover, Shaphan the scribe told the king saying, "Hilkiah the priest has given me a book."
And Shaphan read it in the presence of the king. When the king heard the words of the book of the law, he tore his clothes. Then the king commanded Hilkiah the priest,Ahikam the son of Shaphan, Achbor the son of Micaiah, Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah the king's servant saying, "Go, inquire of the LORD for me and the people and all Judah concerning the words of this book that has been found, for great is the wrath of the LORD that burns against us, because our fathers have not listened to the words of this book, to do according to all that is written concerning us."
Huldah Predicts
So Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam, Achbor, Shaphan, and Asaiah went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe (now she lived in Jerusalem in the Second Quarter); and they spoke to her. She said to them, "Thus says the LORD God of Israel, 'Tell the man who sent you to me, thus says the LORD, "Behold, I bring evil on this place and on its inhabitants, even all the words of the book which the king of Judah has read. Because they have forsaken Me and have burned incense to other gods that they might provoke Me to anger with all the work of their hands, therefore My wrath burns against this place, and it shall not be quenched."'
"But to the king of Judah who sent you to inquire of the LORD thus shall you say to him, 'Thus says the LORD God of Israel, "Regarding the words which you have heard, because your heart was tender and you humbled yourself before the LORD when you heard what I spoke against this place and against its inhabitants that they should become a desolation and a curse, and you have torn your clothes and wept before Me, I truly have heard you," declares the LORD.
"Therefore, behold, I will gather you to your fathers, and you will be gathered to your grave in peace, and your eyes will not see all the evil which I will bring on this place."'" So they brought back word to the king.
